MACMUN 2016 Archive

MACMUN's inaugural conference took place in 2016 as a keystone event to McMaster's Perspectives on Peace campaign and a collaboration between the McMaster Student Union President, the Office of the President, an experiential learning course, and the pre-existing McMaster Model United Nations Club.

The 2-day conference was held at David Braley Health Sciences Centre with a capacity of 90 people and the following 3 committees:

  1. General Assembly

  2. Economic and Social Council

  3. Security Council

The conference also featured receptions and a dinner at the Hamilton Art Gallery.

McMaster sits on the traditional territory shared between the Haudenosaunee confederacy and the Anishinabe nations, which was acknowledged in the Dish with One Spoon wampum belt. That wampum uses the symbolism of a dish to represent the territory, and one spoon to represent that the people are to share the resources of the land and only take what they need.
