Security Council

As the single most powerful United Nations entity, the United Nations Security Council is tasked with the maintenance of international peace and security. What sets the UNSC apart from other committees is their veto power of the permanent 5 members which allows them to veto any substantive resolution. This gives the UNSC a unique flair that is sure to engage all member states.

This year, committee sessions discussed two topics:

1.    Instability in Africa

2.    Exiled Uyghur Muslims in China

McMaster sits on the traditional territory shared between the Haudenosaunee confederacy and the Anishinabe nations, which was acknowledged in the Dish with One Spoon wampum belt. That wampum uses the symbolism of a dish to represent the territory, and one spoon to represent that the people are to share the resources of the land and only take what they need.
