In a world of conflict and dissention, it can be hard to strike an equilibrium between promising fundamental freedoms, and allowing for national sovereignty and security. MACMUN 2027’s UNHRC committee focuses on key issues surrounding key human rights and freedoms, with focus on ensuring girls’ access to education in conflict-affected and politically unstable regions, protecting journalists/media workers in conflict zones, and addressing government censorship and internet shutdowns during protests. Delegates are challenged to work together to develop meaningful resolutions that protect the rights of global citizens, while still respecting other nations’ right to self-govern.
